Post-Treatment Guidelines

General Post-Treatment Instructions:

  1. Immediate Care: Avoid touching, rubbing or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 6 hours after your filler treatment to prevent the filler from moving.
  2. Physical Activity: Refrain from strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and other physical activities for at least 24-48 hours after your treatment to minimize the risk of bruising and swelling.
  3. Cold Compress: Apply a cold compress to the treated area for short intervals (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) to reduce swelling and bruising.
  4. Makeup: Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection and irritation.
  5. Sun Protection: Protect your skin from direct sun exposure by wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily and avoid tanning beds.
  6. Alcohol and Medications: Continue to avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for at least 24 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.
  7. Hydration: Stay well-hydrated to promote healing and maintain skin elasticity.

Additional Tips:

  • Sleep Position: Try to sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first few nights to minimize swelling and pressure on the treated areas.
  • Skincare: Resume your regular skincare routine after 24 hours but continue to avoid exfoliating products for a few days to minimize irritation.
  • Avoid Heat: Avoid exposure to heat sources such as saunas, hot tubs, and hot showers for at least 48 hours as heat can increase swelling.

Results and Maintenance:

  • Results: You will see immediate results from your filler treatment, with optimal results becoming more apparent as swelling subsides over the following days.
  • Longevity: The effects of dermal fillers typically last between 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of filler used and the treatment area. Regular maintenance treatments can help sustain your results.
  • Follow-Up: Schedule follow-up appointments as recommended to monitor your progress and plan future treatments.

Potential Side Effects: While dermal fillers are generally safe and well-tolerated, some patients may experience mild side effects such as:

  • Redness and Swelling: Temporary redness and swelling at the injection sites are common and usually subside within a few hours to a few days.
  • Bruising: Minor bruising can occur but typically resolves within a week.
  • Tenderness: Some tenderness at the injection sites is normal and should subside within a few days.
  • Lumps and Bumps: Small lumps or bumps may form under the skin and can usually be massaged gently to smooth them out. If they persist, contact our clinic for guidance.

By following these pre- and post-treatment guidelines, you can maximize the benefits of your dermal filler treatment and ensure a smooth and effective experience. If you have any questions or concerns during the recovery process, do not hesitate to contact our clinic.
